Vigil for Jaime Gregory Morban: Missing CCNY student found

A new message from the City College undergraduate student government informs the community of the sad news this morning. A vigil today, May 23 at 6 pm, 2017, is scheduled in front of the NAC building in the college campus. Below is the text of the message.

I hope all is well with everyone in finals week. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to inform you all of truly devastating news. For the past week, Jamie Morban has been missing, and it was with great sadness that I am informing you that he was found dead this morning. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones in this tragic  time.
Jamie was truly a remarkable person full of energy and anyone who interacted with him would have their day brightened in the blink of an eye. He was involved on our campus and was part of the Sci-Fi, Gaming and Animation student club and was an aspiring writer. To commemorate the loss of our family member, please join us for a vigil in the NAC Plaza today Tuesday May 23rd, 2017 at 6 PM in Jamie’s honor. In addition, the Undergraduate Student Government will be naming a scholarship in honor of Jamie Morban, the Jamie Morban Memorial Scholarship in the Fall of 2017. During the vigil, we will have a blank book where one may write their thoughts and kind words to the family of Jamie Morban. It will be available afterwards, in the central USG office, room NAC 1/111, and will be given to his family at the end of this week.

It is not easy to lose someone or to cope with the loss. When we pass by people on the streets, we can only imagine their footsteps and what they have experienced and are currently going through. If any of you are going through something or an issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Wellness Center in Marshak, room J-15, peers, or even USG, NAC 1/110, and get help. It is not wrong to feel sad, nor is it wrong to reach out for help. Just understand that you are part of a family, and that we are all here to stand together.

With due respect,

President, 2016-2017
Undergraduate Student Government

Missing CCNY Student: Jaime Gregory Morban

Please spread the word. At the moment, there are no news reports on Jaime’s disappearance. He is a student at City College. See link below to the only news item on Al Noticiasdominicanas al instante.

Here is an appeal from the Office of the President of City College, CUNY.

Dear members of the City College community, we recently learned that a student member of our campus community, Jamie Gregory Morban, has been missing since Monday, May 15, 2017.

Jaime Gregory Morbán

He was last seen at 4:00 pm in front of Shepard Hall by a fellow student and there are no records of his whereabouts since then. We are deeply concerned about this student and his family is, naturally, distraught.

We know the following:

He was scheduled to attend a 6:00 pm class on that Monday and we have no record of his attendance.

It is possible that he was a member of the campus’s Sci-Fi, Gaming and Animation Club. We are asking that anyone – student, faculty or staff – with knowledge of Mr. Morban’s whereabouts from this past Monday to the present to reach out to the public safety office with information.

We also urge any of you who may have social media connections with Mr. Morban to reach out to your networks to help us determine his safety and whereabouts.

We are, obviously, deeply concerned that a member of our community has gone missing and urge any of you with information to help us help Jaime’s family locate him.

If anyone has any information or the whereabouts of Mr. Morban, please contact Lt. Laperuta, CCNY Campus Public Safety at: 646-477-1429 or Det. D’Ambrosio, NYPD 34 Pct. Detective Squad at: 212-927-8203.
